Police Activity weeks of 11/18/2013 through 12/15/2013

11/19/2013 – Stolen MV – Ofc. Caputo

Police responded to the 400 block of N. Springfield Rd. for a report of a stolen home made motor scooter. The victim stated that he parked it outside a local shop and when he returned it was gone. The scooter was described as a red Baha valued at about $200.00.


11/23/2013 – Criminal Mischief – Ofc. Mccaughan

Police responded to the unit block of Chester Ave. for a report of criminal mischief. The victim reported receiving threatening phone calls from an acquaintance that wanted to fight him, after not answering the call the male and a juvenile appeared at the victim’s door and began to bang loudly. When the door was not answered the victim heard his windshield break and observed the two actors walking from his vehicle. An adult white male from Westbrook Park and a juvenile were stopped a short distance away and identified by the victim and a witness. Both were arrested and charged with criminal mischief.


11/26/2013 – DUI/Narcotics – Ofc. Scott

While on routine patrol Officer Scott observed a vehicle run a red light on W. Baltimore Ave. Upon stopping the vehicle the operator was non-complaint and became combative. Police required force to subdue the operator and while doing so detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana on the operators person. Upon being taken into custody the male was found in possession of a sandwich bag of suspected marijuana on his person, and more was found in the vehicle.
The white male resident of Collingdale was taken into custody for DUI, narcotics possession and resisting arrest.


12/01/2013 – Disorderly Conduct – Ofc. Gallo

While on routine patrol Officer Gallo observed a white male resident of Clifton Heights exit the Rams Head Bar and urinate on the side of the building. The male was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.


12/02/2013 – Narcotics – Ofc. Wooding

While on routine patrol Officer Wooding observed a vehicle operating without headlights. Upon stopping the vehicle he observed a passenger throw items from the car. They were recovered and found to be synthetic marijuana (spice). The passenger was arrested and charges are pending. The operator was charged with motor vehicle violations and the third passenger was released.


12/06/2013 – Retail Theft – Sgt. Chappelle

Police responded to the K Mart for a reported shoplifter in custody. Loss Prevention reported the male attempted to leave the store with toys and a 32″ TV. The black male resident of Philadelphia was arrested and charged accordingly.


12/07/2013 – DUI / Narcotics – Ofc. Wooding

Police arrested a white male resident from Broomall for DUI and narcotics violations after he was observed operating his vehicle recklessly in the area of N. Sycamore and Springfield Aves. After stopping the vehicle the operator was observed to be intoxicated and smelled of alcohol. While in custody police located suspected marijuana and a bowl on his person.


12/11/2013 – DUI / Narcotics – Ofc. Berry

Officer Berry responded to the 200 block of N. Springfield Rd. for a report of a vehicle into a building. Upon arrival Ofc. Berry observed a white male resident of Clifton Heights exit the vehicle, unsteady on his feet. While assisting the driver Officer Berry observed him to display signs of intoxication and smelled of alcohol. Based on these observations the male was arrested for DUI and related offenses. During the search of his person police located a glass smoking bowl and two packets of suspected marijuana.
