Police Activity week of 08/18/2013 – 09/07/2013

08/23/2013 – Theft – Sgt. Brown

Officers following up on a reported theft of tools and a ladder from the 100 block of E. Broadway Ave. identified a white male suspect from Clifton Heights as the offender. While investigating this subject police located several pawn sale slips in the suspects name and found other victims of thefts that had not been reported yet. Warrants were attained for the subject and after his arrest he gave statements implicating himself in other theft cases.

08/23/2013 – Assault on police officer – Sgt. Rich

While on patrol a motorist flagged down police to report a white male running into traffic in the 700 block of E. Baltimore Ave. While searching for the subject another motorist reported the male jumped on his vehicle causing damage. Police located the white male resident from Lansdowne in the unit block of E, Baltimore Ave. in an enraged state and acting erratically. In their attempt to place the male into custody, he began to fight and resist officers eventually assaulting Sgt. Rich during the confrontation. He was subdued by several officers and placed under arrest.

08/24/2013 – Retail Theft – Sgt. Martin

Police responded to the Kmart located on E. Baltimore Ave. for a reported theft. The actors had left the store prior to police arrival, but were later located a short distance away. Three juveniles from other local towns were identified by Kmart Loss prevention and stolen merchandise was found on their person.

08/24/2013 – Theft – Ofc. McCaughan

Police responded to the 400 block of E. Baltimore Ave. for a reported theft. Upon arrival the victim stated her mail was missing and believed she knew who took it. During the investigation police located video of the area and were able to identify a white female from Edwardsville as a suspect. After finding more evidence in the case the woman, who was related to the victim was charged and arrested.

08/25/2013 – Disorderly Conduct – Ofc. Berry

While on bike patrol police located a white male resident of Glenolden urinating in public near a bar noted by neighbor complaints for quality of life complaints. The male was arrested and with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

08/26/2013 – Theft – Sgt. Morgan

Police received a complaint from a vending machine owner that sometime overnight the lock on the machine was drilled and contents stolen. Other communities have received similar reports and the respective PD’s are working together to apprehend the suspects.

08/28/2013 – Hit and Run – Ofc. McCaughan

Upper Darby Police were investigating a hit and run in the area of Baltimore Ave. and Delmar Dr. when the driver fled into Clifton Heights. While fleeing the scene in UD the operator entered Clifton Heights, struck a pedestrian and fled from that scene. He later struck several parked cars in a residential area before being apprehended. The black male operator from Yeadon was arrested and charged with several serious hit and run offenses. The pedestrian that was struck suffered non-life threatening injuries and was later released from the hospital.

08/30/2013 – Public Drunkeness – Ofc. Wooding

While on patrol police located a disorientated male in the unit block of E. Baltimore Ave. The male was stopped and identified. Officers found the male to be under the influence of narcotics and he admitted to using heroin that day. The white male resident of Clifton Heights was arrested and charged with public drunkenness.

09/01/2013 – Domestic Assault – Ofc. Caputo

Police responded to the 300 block of E. Baltimore Ave. for a report of a domestic assault at an apartment complex. Police located a female outside in a vehicle visibly upset. The female stated that she was six months pregnant and her boyfriend had assaulted her. The female was transported to a local hospital for treatment. A warrant was issued for the boyfriend.

09/02/2013 – Burglary – Sgt. Martin

Police responded to the 400 block of S. Springfield Rd. for a reported burglary of tools from the apartment complex workshop. A witness described a black male exiting the shop with a trashcan believed to contain the tools. A resident of another building was identified as a possible suspect and interviewed. After giving inconsistent statements the witness was transported to the scene and the male was identified as the actor. He was arrested and charges with the burglary and theft and gave a subsequent statement implicating himself in the crime. The tools were located hidden in another building that the male had access to.
