Police Activity week of 06/03/2013 through 06/24/2013

06/07/2013 – DUI – Ofc. Berry

Officers were dispatched to the McDonalds Restaurant for a driver of a vehicle asleep behind the wheel in the drive thru. Officers located a white male from Upper Darby operating a black vehicle identified as the vehicle called about. During the officers investigation he detected signs of intoxication. The driver was arrested for DUI and related charges.

06/09/2013 – Retail Theft – Sgt. Chappelle

A black female resident of Philadelphia was arrested and charged with retail theft after she stole fifty-four pairs of underwear valued at over $300.00 from Kmart.

06/09/2013 – Narcotics – Ofc. Wooding

While on patrol Ofc. Wooding observed a white male who appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol in the area of N. Sycamore Ave. Upon investigating the male, Ofc. Wooding smelled a strong odor of Marijuana on the male as well as observing the male to have signs of drug intoxication. The Drexel Hill resident was arrested and in the process of the arrest Ofc. Wooding located several packets of Marijuana. The subject admitted at this time that they were for sale and he engages in doing so.

06/09/2013 – Narcotics / Retail Theft – Sgt Morgan

After responding to the Payless Shore source for a retail theft, a white female resident of Clifton Heights was arrested for retail theft and narcotics violations. The female was observed by employees concealing merchandise and was stopped until police arrived. In the process of her arrest police recovered suspected narcotics and needles in her possession.

06/11/2013 – Retail Theft – Ofc. McCaughan

A black male and female from Philadelphia were arrested for retail theft after security observed them concealing merchandise without paying for it. Both were arrested and charged with retail theft.

06/12/2013 – Narcotics – Ofc. Wooding

A white male resident from Clifton Heights was charged with narcotics offenses after police responded to a medical call for an overdose. The male was found in possession of suspected cocaine and was then transported to the hospital for treatment.

06/13/2013 – Luring – Sgt. Morgan

While on patrol Sgt. Morgan was flagged down by a 15 year old female who stated a black male tried to coax her into getting into his vehicle. The female pointed to the vehicle and identified the black male operator as the person who contacted her.

The black male resident was interviewed and after giving several inconsistent statements coupled with the victim’s statement, he was arrested for luring.

06/16/2013 – DUI – Ofc. Gallo

While on patrol Ofc. Gallo observed a vehicle operating in a reckless manner. Upon stopping the vehicle the operator had signs of intoxication and admitted being on several medications. The black female resident of Ardmore was requested to perform several sobriety tests, which she failed. She was arrested for DUI and related charges.

06/17/2013 – Narcotics – Sgt. Morgan

Police responded to the 200 block of S. Springfield Rd. for a report of suspicious activity. The homeowner allowed police to enter the residence to find a white female resident of Clifton Heights in a state of narcotic overdose. In her possession was paraphernalia used for injecting narcotics. The female was transported to the hospital and charged with narcotics violations.

06/18/2013 – Trespassing /Narcotics Sgt. Chappelle

Police responded to the 200 block of W. Washington Ave. for a report of a burglary. The real estate agent listing the property entered and observed a white male flee from the back door. The white male resident of Drexel Hill was located and arrested. He was also found in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia.

06/15/2013 – Weapons – Ofc. McCaughan

A juvenile male was arrested after being stopped for curfew violation and found to be in possession of brass knuckles. He was later released to his parents pending charges.

06/20/2013 – Theft – Ofc. Berry

Several residents in the second ward reported theft of lawn items including lights and decorations. One resident stated that a dark SUV was observed suspiciously in the area about 04:30, but the police were not called.

06/23/2013 – DUI – Ofc. Wooding

Police responded to an accident in the 400 block of Springfield Rd. During the investigation police found the operator of the striking vehicle in an intoxicated state. He freely admitted to police that he was drunk and high. The white male driver from Drexel Hill was arrested for DUI and related charges.
