Police Activity week of 09/24/2012 through 10/14/2012
09/24/2012 – DUI – Ofc. Caputo
While investigating an accident in the 100 block of W. Berkley Ave. police took a white male resident of the block into custody for DUI and drug offenses. While investigating the accident Officer Caputo detected signs that the operator was under the influence. He also located drug paraphernalia in the close proximity of the operator.
09/26/2012 – Theft – Sgt. Chappelle
Police took of report of a stolen bicycle at the Rite Aid on E. Baltimore Ave. The victim’s mother reported her son leaving the bike outside. When he returned the bike was gone and a beat up scooter was left in it’s place.
09/26/2012 – Attempted Homicide – Sgt. Chappelle
Police responded to the unit block of N. Sycamore Ave. for a reported shooting. Upon arrival police found the resident had been shot twice. He was transported to the hospital and treated. Through investigation three actors were identified and charged in the incident. All three black males were residents of Philadelphia. The investigation is ongoing.
09/26/2012 – Retail Theft – Sgt. Chappelle
Kmart Loss Prevention reported observing a black male resident of Philadelphia shoplifting $41.00 in electronic merchandise. The actor was an employee of Kmart. He was arrested and charged with Retail Theft.
09/26/2012 – Firearms – Sgt. Brown
Police arrested a black male and a Hispanic male, both residents of Clifton Heights for firearms violations. The males were at the Baltimore Ave. Trolley stop with a black nylon bag in close proximity. As detectives from The DA’s Office were assisting with the previous shooting, this incident was observed. Both males were arrested and charged.
09/28/2012 – Narcotics – Sgt. Martin
Police responded to the 300 block of S. Church St. for a reported overdose on Heroin. Upon arrival police observed an unresponsive white male from Clifton Heights on the floor. In close proximity was drug paraphernalia. The male was treated at the hospital and a summons sent for the narcotics violations.
09/28/2012 – Disorderly Conduct – Sgt. Chappelle
Police arrested a white male resident of Darby Borough after observing him urinating in public.
09/30/2012 – Public Drunkenness – Ofc. Corsi
Police arrested a white male resident of Collingdale after he left a local bar. A fight ensued as a result of him trying to drive home. Police located the male walking on Springfield Rd. in an extremely intoxicated state. He was charged with Public Drunkenness.
10/01/2012 – Narcotics/DUI – Sgt. Martin
Police arrested a white female from Clifton Heights for narcotic possession and DUI after observing a traffic violation in the 200 block of W. Baltimore Ave. The female displayed signs of intoxication and was in possession of an empty blue wax baggie consistent with packaged heroin. The white male passenger from Drexel Hill was also arrested after police found him in possession of a syringe and a similar baggie. Two unopened baggies of suspected Heroin were located between the drivers and passengers seats.
10/02/2012 – Retail Theft – Sgt. Martin
A black male resident of Crum Lynn was arrested for shoplifting after being observed by Kmart Loss Prevention acting with another male to conceal merchandise. The second male fled and was not apprehended. The first male was charges with retail theft.
10/02/2012 – Trespassing – Sgt. Martin
Police charges a white female from Clifton Heights with trespassing after a resident of Diamond St. caught her on video on several occasions entering her porch and taking cigarettes.
10/05/2012 – Theft from Vehicles – Sgt. Martin
Three residents in the second ward reported their vehicles entered into overnight. All the vehicles were unlocked at the time. Various items including money, electronics and personal information was taken.
10/05/2012 – Narcotics – Ofc. Hahn
A juvenile resident of Clifton Heights was charged after police located drug paraphernalia in his possession. He was released to his father.
10/05/2012 – Theft – Ofc. Hahn
A resident of Baltimore Ave. reported someone entered his porch and took his son’s 20″ bike.
10/07/2012 – Public Drunkenness – Ofc. McCaughan
Police arrested a 19-year-old white male resident of Clifton Heights after responding to a disturbance call. The male was extremely intoxicated and combative with police. He was charged with several violations.
10/08/2012 – Narcotics – Ofc. McCaughan
Police arrested a white male from Clifton Heights after observing him acting suspiciously. While interviewing him, the male was nervous and continually manipulating something in his pockets. Upon searching him for weapons police located a quantity of suspected marijuana.
10/08/2012 – Theft – Sgt. Chappelle
Kmart Loss Prevention apprehended a juvenile after observing him conceal a BB pistol. He was turned over to police and charged with retail theft.
10/09/2012 – Warrant – Ofc. Wooding
After investigating suspicious activity in the 200 block of Holly St. Police arrested a wanted felon out of Delaware. He was charged as a fugitive and awaits extradition.
10/09/2012 – Accident – Ofc. Morgan
Police responded to the 100 block of Radnor St. for a tractor-trailer that took out PECO and related utility service to several homes in the area.
10/12/2012 – Retail Theft – Ofc. McCaughan
A white female resident of Sharon Hill was apprehended by Kmart Loss Prevention after concealing store merchandise. She was arrested by responding officers and charged with retail theft.
10/12/2012 – Warrant Arrest – Sgt. Martin
After receiving a tip call a white male resident of Folcroft and a white female resident of Collingdale were taken into custody in the unit block of E. Berkley Ave. Both had outstanding warrants for arrest.
10/14/2012 – DUI – Ofc. Cook
After investigating a report of a reckless driver Ofc. Cook stopped a white Mustang in the 200 block of S. Springfield Rd. The operator displayed signs of intoxication and was taken into custody for DUI.
