Police Activity week of 07/24/2012 through 08/15/2012

07/24/2012 – Theft – Ofc. Press

A resident of the 500 block of S. Church St. reported observing a white male 5’8″ to 5’10” remove a lawn mower from a neighbor’s residence. The male was not located.


07/25/2012 – Theft/Narcotics – Ofc. Press

Police responded to the unit block of E. Madison Ave. for a report of three males attempting to gain entry into parked vehicles. During this investigation police took three males who fit the description of the actors into custody a short distance away. The males were found in possession of items taken from cars and were charged with theft and related offenses. One of the males also was in possession the three pills determined to be controlled substances for which he did not have a prescription.


07/25/2012 – Suspicious Person. Indecent Assault – Sgt Chappelle

A female reported walking in the 100 block of E. Baltimore Ave when a white male walked behind her and grabbed her buttocks. When the female turned she observed a white male in his 30’s, balding wearing a white tee shirt and cargo pants. He reportedly apologized to the female stating he thought she was someone else. The female fled to a friend’s house and called police. The male was last seen walking towards Springfield Rd.


07/26/2012 – Criminal Mischief – Sgt. Brown

A motorist reported actors shooting paintballs from the wooded area behind the Arby’s Restaurant at the building and patron’s vehicles. Police observed about two dozen paintball hits on the building. After walking through the wooded area, nobody was located.


07/27/2012 – Public Drunkenness – Ofc. Press

As a result of a domestic argument call officers located a white male and female arguing in the unit block of W. Broadway Ave. Both were intoxicated and causing a disturbance. Both were arrested and charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.


07/27/2012 – Retail Theft – Ofc. Press

A black male was observed walking out of K Mart with unpaid merchandise. When confronted by an employee the male fled the store and entered a waiting vehicle. The vehicle was stopped a short distance away and both occupants, black males from Philadelphia were arrested arrested and charged with retail theft and conspiracy.


07/28/2012 – Public Drunkenness – Ofc. Press

Police observed a subject lying on the ground in the 100 block of S. Springfield Rd. She was accompanied by two other persons. When police investigated the matter all three were found to be extremely intoxicated. Police provided medical attention to the downed person and all three were charged with public drunkenness.


07/29/2012 – Warrant Arrest – Ofc. McCaughan

Police observed a white female resident of Clifton Heights in a vehicle on Springfield Rd. Knowing this person had active warrants out of another jurisdiction, the vehicle was stopped and the passenger arrested without incident.


08/09/2012 – Retail Theft – Ofc. Caputo

Kmart Loss Prevention observed a black male resident of Lansdowne conceal $67.00 worth of merchandise and leave the store. He was stopped outside and police were notified. The male was charged with retail theft.


08/10/2012 – UAD – Ofc. Morgan

Police responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle in the 100 block of W. Baltimore Ave when they heard loud noises coming from a residence in the area. Upon investigating they found an underage drinking party at a residence. Eleven persons under 21 years old were taken into custody for UAD and the host was charged with furnishing alcohol to minors and related offenses.


08/10/2012 – Disorderly Conduct – Ofc. Gallo

Police responded to the unit block of Windsor Ln. for a report of a woman screaming. Upon arrival they located a white female resident of the block in the roadway highly intoxicated. While placing her under arrest she became violent and proceeded to damage the police car by repeatedly kicking the window and door. She was charged with D/C and related offenses and Criminal Mischief for damaging police property.


08/13/2012 – Stolen Bike – Ofc. Hahn

Police responded to the 100 block of E. Berkley Ave. for a reported stolen bike. The resident stated that a child whom she babysits had his bike stolen from outside of the residence. It was described as a grey and black diamond back bike.


08/14/2012 – Commercial Burglary – Sgt. Chappelle

The owner of Philly Wings and Things reported a burglary upon arriving to work. The rear steel door was pried and the actor took approximately $2000.00 in USC from the business. Police viewed the video in the business and identified the white male actor who resides in Clifton Heights. The male was also a former employee at the business. A warrant was sealed and the male was later taken into custody in N.J. He remains there until extradition proceeding begin.


08/15/2012 – Retail Theft – Sgt. Martin

Police responded to the Rite Aid on Baltimore Ave. for a reported retail theft committed by a white male and white female. The store manager and two customers followed the male and held him until police arrived and the female was arrested a couple blocks away by Sgt. Brown who was searching the area for her. The male resided in Broomall while his female accomplice was from Folcroft.
