Police Activity week of 09/18/2011 through 09/25/2011

09/18/2011 – Ofc. Cook

It was reported by a resident from the unit block of E. Washington Ave observed two black male broke into her vehicle and took her handbag. The males fled toward S. Springfield Rd. Police searched the area and could not locate the actors. The handbag was later located under a vehicle on Madison Ave. with the wallet missing.

09/21/2011 – Sgt. Rockenbach, Sgt. Chappelle

Loss Prevention personnel from the Clifton Heights Kmart reported observing a white female take items from the shopping floor and enter a fitting room. When she exited she was not carrying the items. After Loss Prevention checked the fitting room they found the tags and box from the items. After the actor was stopped the items were located in her back pack. Upon her arrest by Sgt. Chappelle, he located a bag on her person containing a spoon, needle and tourniquet commonly used for injecting illegal controlled substances. The actor was identified as a Glenolden resident with prior retail theft convictions, she was charged with retail theft and drug charges.

09/22/2011 – Sgt. Brown, Ofc. Caputo

Officers responded to the unit block of Mill St. for a report of a silver vehicle occupied by several white males smoking marijuana. Upon their arrival officers located the vehicle and actors including four juveniles outside the car. Officers detected a heavy odor of burnt marijuana and smoke coming from the vehicle. During their encounter with the males in the vehicle officers located a plastic bag with suspected marijuana in it.
As a result two adults and four juveniles were detained and charged with corruption of minors and drug offenses.

09/23/2011 – Ofc. McCaughan

After receiving information about a burglary suspect from the Westbrook Park section of Upper Darby Ofc. McCaughan located the male in the unit block of S. Sycamore Ave. After stopping the male, Ofc. McCaughn located numerous wax paper baggies containing a powder substance that field tested positive for Heroin and needles. The white male, from the Westbrook Park section of Upper Darby was arrested and charged for drug possession and related offenses.

09/23/2011 – Ofc. Hahn

After searching for a reported white male walking into traffic Ofc. Hahn located the actor face down in the intersection of Cherry and W. Broadway Sts. He was clearly intoxicated and suffered a head laceration as a result of falling in the street. The male was transported to the hospital for his injuries and charged with public drunkenness.

09/25/2011 – Ofc. Czaplicki

After a vehicle stop Ofc. Czaplicki learned that the operator was wanted out of the City of Philadelphia. This warrant was confirmed with Philadelphia Police and the operator was detained. He was later turned over to the Philadelphia Police Warrant Division.

09/25/2011 – Sgt. Martin, Ofc. Press

After a reported fight in the area of 29 W. Broadway Ave. Officers arrested two white males from Clifton Heights and Secane. Both were identified as the actors fighting and charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

09/25/2011 – Sgt. Martin, Ofc. Press

After responding to a domestic dispute report officers observed property damage in the area of the address. The female caller stated that the damage was a result of her boyfriend’s actions, who fled prior to police arrival. The female identified him as a white male from Drexel Hill and gave his name to officers. After checking the area and being unable to locate the actor, his was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief as a result of the witness statement.
