Police Activity week of 09/12/2011 through 09/18/2011
09/13/2011 – Officer Morgan
A resident of the 100 block of E. Madison reported a theft of a bicycle sometime overnight between September 12 and 13. Another neighbor also reported a theft of a 6ft ladder during the same time period.
Officers recovered the bicycle at the intersection of Springfield Rd and Jefferson St. on a later date, the ladder was not recovered. Witnesses reported a person they suspected to be homeless in the area during the time of the thefts. He was described as a W/M in his 20’s with blonde hair and facial hair.
09/14/2011 – Sgt Rockenbach, Officer Press
A Clifton Heights resident was taken into custody in the unit block of S. Springfield Rd. The resident was known to be wanted for probation violations, and was observed by Sgt. Rockenbach in the area. He was later transported to GHCF.
09/14/2011 – Sgt. Rich
Strong Arm Robbery
A 14-year-old victim reported riding his scooter on Baltimore Ave near the Kmart when four B/M juveniles approached him. One of the males took the victim’s scooter and all four fled west on Baltimore Ave. The victim was not injured and could not provide police with any further description of the actors.
09/15/2011 – Officer Press, Officer Clancey
Police were dispatched to the 100 block of W. Berkley Ave. for a reported man with an Ax. Upon arrival an Aldan resident was taken into custody for assault and related offenses when it was learned that he threatened the caller with a baseball bat.
09/15/2011 – Officer McCaughan
Officer McCaughan took a Clifton Heights resident into custody in the 100 block of W. Baltimore Ave. after observing suspicious activity. During the stop Officer McCaughan did a pat down search of the defendant for officer safety and found a bag containing suspected marijuana. After a positive field test of the item, the defendant was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
09/17/2011 – Sgt. Brown, Officer Antonucci
An Upper Darby resident was taken into custody for retail theft after K Mart Loss Prevention observed her concealing $96.71 in store merchandise and not paying for it. The defendant was processed, cited and released for retail theft.
09/18/2011 – Officer Gallo
A resident of E. Baltimore Ave. in Clifton Heights reported his vehicle stolen in front of his apartment after leaving it running while in his apartment. The vehicle was described as a white mini-van.
09/18/2011 – Sgt. Brown, Officer Cook
A Clifton Heights resident reported being on the unit block of N. Glenwood Ave. at about 21:30, when two W/M’s wearing hoodies and jeans approached him. One of the males displayed a handgun and ordered the victim to empty his pockets. The victim did turn over cash and a cell phone and the actors fled on foot towards Harrison Ave.
Responding officers and other assisting departments flooded the area in a search for the actors, none were located.
