Police activity week of 6-28 through 7-04

6/30-/2010 – Sergeant John Martin / Officer James Press

Domestic Assault Arrest
On Wednesday, June 30, 2010 Clifton Heights Police were dispatched to the unit block of S. Springfield Rd. for a reported domestic assault between father and son. After police investigation, Sgt. Martin and Officer Press advised the 47 year old defendant he was being placed under arrest for simple assault. After repeated attempts and refusal to submit to arrest, the defendant resisted arrest and had to physically subdued. The defendant was charged with Simple Assault, resisting arrest and related charges.


7/02/2010 – Officer Robert McCaughan

Disorderly Conduct and Careless Driving – Road Rage Incident
Clifton Heights Police were summoned to the unit block of E. Baltimore Ave for a reported fight in progress on July 2, 2010. As a result of a traffic dispute, the two involved parties pulled into a private parking lot where an argument ensued. Investigation learned that one of the two involved participants threatened to harm the other participant and purposely backed his vehicle into the leg of the second party. Criminal and traffic related charges have been filed against a 69 year old male Lansdowne resident.


6/15/2010 – Sergeant Francis Rick

Theft from Vehicle Investigation
A resident of Maple Terrace reported on July 2, 2010 that at about 1:30AM he heard glass break outside of his residence. The resident did not call police after looking out his window and not seeing anyone. At about 9AM, this resident discovered one of the windows to his car smashed out and a GPS unit missing from inside.

The police department reminds all residents to call 911 on any suspicious persons or conditions, which include glass breaking at 1AM. Police response may have resulted in locating the actor or actors involved.


7/02/2010 – Officer Matt Antonucci, Sergeant John Martin

Underage Drinking Arrests
After dispatch to the intersection of Church and Washington Avenues on July 2, 2010, for a disorderly group, arriving officers observed evidence of a fight. Investigating officers suspected two female juveniles to be under the influence of alcohol. A test of the 15 and 12 year old juveniles confirmed the officer’s suspicions with Portable Breath Test readings of .133 and .148 Blood Alcohol Content. Both juveniles were issued citations for underage consumption of alcohol and released to responsible guardians.


6/20/2010 – Officer Matt Antonucci, Officer James Press, Sergeant John Martin

Public Intoxication Arrest
On patrol, Officer Matt Antonucci observed an 18 year old male resident of Upper Darby under what appeared the extreme effect of alcohol consumption. Observations including the defendant stumbling and falling into the street on the 100 block of W. Baltimore Avenue resulted in the defendants arrest for his own safety. Investigation determined prescription drug use in conjunction with the alcohol. A citation for public drunkenness was issued.


7/04/2010 – Officer Robert McCaughan

Driving under the Influence of Alcohol Arrest
On July 04, 2010 at 3:45PM, Clifton Heights Police were dispatched to the 700 block of E. Baltimore Avenue for a reported Hit & Run accident. On arrival of Officer Robert McCaughan, a description of the offender and vehicle was broadcast to adjoining police agencies. As a result, a suspect matching the description was stopped by Lansdowne Borough Police where a positive identification was made. The 46 year old resident of Drexel Hill was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, leaving the Scene of an attended vehicle accident and refusal to submit to a breath test for alcohol and related charges.
