Police activity week of 6-14 through 6-20
6/22/2010 – Sergeant Stephen Brown
On Tuesday, 6/22/2010 at about 11:38PM, Sgt. Stephen Brown witnessed a black Honda Civic travelling east on Baltimore Ave which made no attempt to stop for a steady red traffic signal. As a result of this violation, the Honda Civic entered the intersection striking a vehicle travelling north on Springfield Road. The impact caused the Honda Civic to swerve, jump the curb and almost strike a woman who barely was able to jump out the way before the vehicle became wedged between a tree and a building. As a result of this investigation, a 28 year old male resident of Upper Darby is being investigated on DUI and related charges.

Robbery, Burglary, Assault
Clifton Heights Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of E. Madison Avenue at 6:35AM for a reported burglary interrupted with the perpetrator fleeing the residence east on E. Madison Ave. Responding officers learned a family member of the home owner was watching the home while the home owners were on vacation. The family member was awakened and discovered a bedroom ransacked. She investigated further and discovered additional items on the dining room floor and confronted a male crouched and hiding near the kitchen refrigerator. On her attempt to call 911, the male actor yelled to her to stop and physically knocked her to the ground and fled the residence carrying a red colored bag. Clifton Heights and assisting police departments flooded the area and secured a perimeter. A foot search resulted in Sergeant Stephen Brown locating a suspect matching the description hiding in the grass of a nearby private property and in possession of a red colored bag containing a carton of cigarettes, digital camera and camera bag. The defendant, a 25 year old male resident of Norwood and the items contained in the red bag were positively identified.
Investigation by Sergeant Rockenbach determined forced entry through the rear door and a subsequent admission statement made by the defendant.
While in custody, the defendant became unruly and attempted to damage a cell door and camera. In an attempt to shackle the defendant, he assaulted officers by spitting on them, throwing feces at them and throwing urine laced toilet water at them in addition to physically assaulting three officers. Two officers received medical treatment for injuries sustained during this struggle. Additional charges of Aggravated Assault and related injuries were placed against the defendant.
6/27/2010 – Officer Matt Antonucci
Public Drunkenness Arrest
As a result of a call for a suspicious person on Oak Avenue near Crestwood Drive, Officer Matt Antonucci located a 48 year old male resident of Philadelphia passed out and under the extreme effect of alcohol consumption. The defendant was arrested and cited for Public Drunkenness.
