Police Activity week of 11-15-2010 through 11-21-2010

11/16/2010 – Officer James Press

Criminal Mischief/Vandalism
On Tuesday, November 16, 2010 Clifton Height’s police were dispatched to the 300 block of E. Berkley Avenue for a reported vandalism in progress. Police investigation learned that a commercial business and residential property owner had a disagreement over a property line and repair work completed.

As a result code enforcement had entered the dispute and made a decision that the commercial business was within their rights and property lines.

Investigation learned the residential neighbor used a sledge hammer and damaged the work concrete work completed by the business. Based on observations and investigation, summary two Criminal Mischief Citations for vandalism are being issued against a 50 year old female resident of Clifton Heights.

Armed Robbery Investigation
Clifton Heights Police were stopped on patrol by a 19 year old resident of Upper Darby, on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 10:24PM, who reported being robbed by three males with one of the males threatening the victim by threat of having a gun. This occurred at the intersection of Springfield Road and N. Church Street. During the course of the robbery, the victim’s headphones and cell phone were taken. A search of the vicinity by investigating officers resulted in Officer Christian Caputo locating three actors matching the descriptions provided in the Westbrook Park section of Upper Darby. The victim was transported to Springfield Road and Westbrook Lane where a positive ID of all three was made and a cell phone taken by one of the three males was identified as the victims. Investigator Tim Rockenbach assisted in the investigation and after processing the three defendants had them transferred to the Delaware County Juvenile Detention center. Arrested was a 17 year old male resident of Aston, a 16 year old resident of Linwood and a 17 year old resident of Chester who were each charged with Armed Robbery, conspiracy and related charges. The police department has requested these defendants charged as adults.

Underage Drinking Arrests
Clifton Height’s police were on a traffic stop in the 100 block of E. Baltimore Ave on Friday, November 19, 2010 at about 11:35PM, during which they heard and investigated several females yelling in the vicinity. As a result of their investigation, officers observed several females all under the age of 21 years and all under the visible effects of alcohol consumption. One female was under the extreme effects of alcohol to a degree that required emergency response transportation to the hospital for alcohol consumption poisoning.

Arrest was 1 13 year old female resident of Ridley Park, a 16 year old female resident of Drexel Hill, a 17 year old resident of Drexel Hill, and a 15 year old resident of Clifton Heights. All were issued summary citations and released into the care of parents or guardians.

Disorderly Conduct
After dispatch to the unit block of E. Baltimore Avenue and Diamond Street for a reported fight, arriving officers learned two patrons of a commercial established started fighting with employees as escorted from the premises. On arrival, Officers arrested one of the two involved patrons and was issued a summary citation for Disorderly Conduct. Arrested was a 27 year old male resident of Drexel Hill.

Disorderly Conduct arrest
While on traffic enforcement on Saturday, November 20, 2010, Officer John Clancy stopped a vehicle on an insurance violation when he noticed and detected a strong odor of Marijuana emanating from the car. As a result of a consent search, Officer Clancy confiscated drug paraphernalia and marijuana residue.

The 41 year old female resident of Philadelphia was transported to headquarters and issued summary charges for the possession.

Warrant Arrest
On Saturday, November 20, 2010 Officer John Clancy stopped a vehicle for registration related traffic violations. His investigation learned that the operator who is a 62 year old male resident of Glenolden Borough was wanted on three outstanding court warrants. The defendant was turned over to the constables for transportation to the prison.

Assault Arrest
Clifton Heights police were dispatched for a reported assault of a store clerk at the 7-11 on Baltimore Pike at Marple Ave on Sunday, 11/21/10 at 3:41AM. On arrival the victim supplied a description and last known direction of travel of a Black male and white female. A search of the area located two suspects matching the description several blocks away. The store clerk was transported to that location and positively identified both defendants. In addition to Simple Assault Charges, both were charges with possession of Marijuana. The female had additional charges of Aggravated Assault for spitting and additional charges for threats against police and turnkey.

Arrested was a 19 year old female resident of Clifton Heights and a 20 year old male resident of Philadelphia.

Domestic Disturbance – Underage drinking arrest
A domestic disturbance call was received on Sunday, 11/21/10 at 7:38AM to the 200 block of Davis Ave with a report of a physical altercation between a mother and daughter. On arrival the mother reported being punched by her 15 year old daughter who was under the influence of alcohol consumption. A second 15 year old female friend of the daughter’s was also on location and also under the effects of alcohol consumption. Another family member responded to take control of the 15 year old. Both 15 year old females, one a resident of Clifton Heights and the second a resident of Upper Darby, are being mailed out summary citations for Underage Drinking.

Domestic Disturbance – Disorderly conduct arrest
On 11/20/2010 Clifton Height’s police were summoned to the 100 block of E. Baltimore Ave for a reported domestic disturbance during which a police dispatcher heard a male threaten to beat up the female caller. As a result of investigation, summary disorderly conduct charges were filed against a 17 year old male resident of Clifton Heights for the threats against his mother.

Domestic Disturbance – Disorderly conduct arrest
As a result of several calls for a reported domestic disturbance outside on the unit block of Mill Street on 11/21/10 at 10:50PM, police responded to find several persons involved in a domestic argument. After repeated attempts at failed resolution, threats of criminal arrests resulted in the involved parties leaving for the night. Summary citations for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness were issued against a 25 year old male resident of Mill Street in Clifton Heights.
