Police activity week of 05-03-10 through 05-09-10

5/04/2010 – Officer Robert McCaughan / Sgt. Tim Rockenbach

Aggravated Assault, Vehicle Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, Reckless Endangering and numerous related charges
On May 4, 2010 Officer Robert McCaughan conducted a vehicle stop which resulted in the recovery of a stolen vehicle and a separate stolen tag. The operator was detained for investigation. During the following investigation, a suspect name was obtained leading to officers responding to Berkley Avenue in Lansdowne where the suspect was observed operating a red colored jeep. On Officer McCaughan’s attempt to stop this stolen vehicle, the suspect/defendant fled and a vehicle pursuit resulted. The pursuit ended on Oak Avenue in Aldan Borough after the defendant, a 47 year old white male residing on Berkley Avenue in Drexel Hill, crashed into a second vehicle and then crashed into a unmarked police unit involved in the pursuit. During the later accident and scuffle to arrest the defendant, injuries were sustained by two officers. A total of four stolen vehicles were recovered as a result of the investigation by Officer McCaughan and Sgt. Rockenbach.

5/05/2010 – Officer James Press

Aggravated Assault with a knife
Clifton Heights Police met a female complainant at police headquarters on 5/5/2010. Officer James Press investigated a reported assault with a knife, hands and teeth substantiated by visible injuries to the 33 year old female victim. As a result of this investigation, a male defendant who resides in the 400 block of S. Springfield Rd was arrested on Aggravated Assault and related charges.

5/07/2010 – Sergeant Francis Rich

Theft by Unlawful Taking
A retail establishment on S. Oak Avenue reported the theft of $50 of coins by a person known to frequently shop at the store. Sergeant Francis Rich investigated the case and completed a Criminal Complaint of Theft charges against a defendant who resides on the 200 block of N. Oak Avenue in Clifton Heights. A short time later, Officer Thomas Gallo observed the wanted defendant and placed him in custody. The defendant was charged with theft and receiving stolen property charges.

5/08/2010 – Officer Kevin Schieler

Public Drunk Arrest
On May 8, 2010, Clifton Heights Police received a report of domestic disturbance on the 100 block of W. Broadway Avenue. During officer’s attempts at defusing the situation, Officer Kevin Schieler arrested one 26 year old male defendant who was cited on Public Drunkenness charges.

5/08/2010 – Sgt. John Martin

DUI Arrest
On May 2, 2010 Sgt. John Martin observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on W. Baltimore Avenue. After observing additional violations, a traffic stop was conducted on W. Baltimore Ave where the operator was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. The operator is a 52 year old male resident of Philadelphia. A criminal complaint was issued and the defendant will face Driving Under The Influence of Alcohol and related charges.

5/08/2010 & 5/09/2010 – Officer John Clancy/Officer Chris Kammerer

On May 8, 2010 and on May 9, 2010, Clifton Heights police were dispatched, both days, for a disorderly female causing a disturbance on the unit block of E. Baltimore Ave. On both days responding officers encountered a 43 year old female who was under the extreme effects of alcohol. In both cases the defendant was arrested, housed for her safety and issued citations for Public Drunkenness by Officer John Clancy and Officer Chris Kammerer.
