Police activity week of 03-29-10 through 04-04-10

On Thursday, April 1, 2010 at about 9:30 pm, Officer Robert McCaughan observed a suspicious group enter the Springfield Rd ball field through the Sycamore Street entrance. On investigation, Officer McCaughan had two juveniles flee on foot while he detained five addition juveniles. Arrested for trespassing on private park property after dark and the possession of drug paraphernalia were one 15 year old female defendant from Clifton Heights, a 16 year old male defendant from Clifton Heights, a 16 year old male defendant from Springfield Township, a 17 year old male defendant from Clifton Heights and another 16 year old male defendant from Springfield Township.

On Thursday, April 1, 2010 at about 10:30 pm, Officer Robert McCaughan observed a suspicious group in the vicinity of the apartments located at 312 E. Baltimore Ave. Upon further investigation, several bottles of beer and two bottles of alcohol were found in their possession. Four defendants were arrested and cited for possession of alcohol while under the age of 21 years. One defendant is an 18 year old female from Clifton Heights, a 19 year old male from Secane, a 16 year old male from Clifton Heights and a 15 year old female from Upper Darby. One of the defendants is also receiving a citation for providing a false name to investigating officers.

On Friday, April 2, 2010 at about 11:50 pm, Clifton Heights responded to a theft from motor vehicle. Officer John Clancy met with a resident of the 100 block of E. Baltimore Ave who reported the theft of a Garmin GPS unity from his vehicle overnight. While we have no suspects at this time, the Clifton Heights Police Department reminds all residents to lock their vehicles while unoccupied.

On Friday, April 2, 2010 at about 1:45 pm, Clifton Heights Police were dispatched to a business on the 500 block of E. Baltimore Avenue. The business owner reported the theft of a picnic table by a white male, in a black full length rain coat and jeans, operating a black colored Ford F-150 pick-up truck with a camper top and a flag on the antenna. Anyone having information on a vehicle matching the above information is asked to contact investigating Officer John Clancy.

On Friday, April 2, 2010 at about 7 pm, Clifton Heights Police received a report of a suspicious occupied vehicle at the rear of a business on 200 block of E. Baltimore Ave. On arrival Officer Thomas Gallo observed a suspect asleep behind the wheel of a parked vehicle. Investigation determined the suspect under the influence and in possession of alcohol. Probable Cause did not exist for a criminal DUI arrest but the 59 year old defendant was placed in custody and charged with public drunkenness.

On Friday, April 2, 2010 at about 10:30 pm, Officer Robert McCaughan observed two subjects on the trolley tracks in the vicinity of the Rockbourne Plaza complex. On investigation, Officer Robert McCaughan observed an 18 year old defendant in the possession of beer. This female defendant was arrested and issued a citation for Underage Possession of Alcohol.

On Saturday, April 3, 2010 a resident of Academy Rd. reported a Burglary that occurred overnight while he was out of town. Initial information determined over $4,000 in quarters missing and no forced entry visibly evident. The homeowner reported a missing house key and provided a possible female suspect. A resident witness reported seeing two females loading an unknown item into a parked car in front of the victim’s home at about 3:30AM that morning. Sergeant John Chappelle conducted an investigation and as a result learned that two female suspects had cashed large quantities of coin at the Acme Market in Clifton Heights, the TD Bank in Drexel Hill and the Pathmark Supermarket in Glenolden. The investigation has resulted in the arrest of a 20 year old female defendant from Drexel Hill and a 26 year old female defendant from Lansdowne.
